Albert "Andy" Andriano, 91, died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center in Indianola. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27 at St. John the Apostle Church, 720 Orchard Hills Drive, Norwalk. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary service Tuesday evening at Brooks Funeral Care – Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
Albert was born in Des Moines on September 25, 1916, the son of John and Minnie (Giacoma). He retired from Meredith Printing, with 42 years of service. While employed, he was President of the Bookbinders Union BB71. He also was a Navy veteran.
Albert had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting. His favorite hobby was beekeeping. At one time he had more than 300 beehives. He won several awards for his honey at the Iowa State Fair. He was past President of the Iowa Beekeepers Association. The Association awarded him "Iowa Beekeeper of the Year" in 1989 and its "Pioneer Award" in 2000.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dante, Joseph, and Isadore, sisters Madallena and Margaret.
Albert is survived by his wife, Marvel of Cumming; daughter, Nancy (Bill) of St. Charles, IL; sons, Tim of Oak Park, IL and Kevin (Sue) of Waterloo; grandchildren, Halle Cox, of St Charles, IL, and Jason and Allyson of Waterloo; brother John Andrews of La Jolla, CA and niece, Adeline Brewer of Indianola.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Apostle Church or the Indianola Good Samaritan Center.

 

Membership dues for 2008:

Dues for 2008 must be paid in order to be able to vote at the 2008 IHPA Annual meeting.  They are still $10 for the primary member and $5 for each additional family member at the same address.  The November Buzz will be the last one sent to members who have not sent in their 2008 dues.  2009 dues are being accepted now if you want to send it in.

Notice to Members of the IHPA

The officers and board members of the IHPA would like to propose some changes to our by-laws.  This is being published so that members having questions or suggestions could present them to us before the annual meeting so that the amendments can be finalized for voting during the business meeting section during the convention.

Article III-Membership, Section 2-The Annual membership dues in the Association shall entitle the holder to membership from the beginning of one annual business meeting until the beginning of the next annual business meeting.  Proposed change:  THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES IN THE ASSOCIATION SHALL ENTITLE THE HOLDER TO MEMBERSHIP FROM JANUARY 1 UNTIL DECEMBER 31 OF THE CURRENT YEAR.

Article IV-Officers and Directors, Section 1- The officers of this Association shall be a president, a vice-president, secretary, treasurer and historian.  There will also be seven directors, one of which will be the immediate past president. All officers will hold office for one year and be elected at large from the State of Iowa.  Proposed addition:  EACH OFFICER OR DIRECTOR SHALL BE OVER THE AGE OF 21.

Article VI-Duties of Officers, Section 3- The secretary and the treasurer shall keep the records of the Association, handle all funds and carry on all business of the Association.  Their activities shall be under the directions of the Executive Board.  They shall close their books prior to each annual meeting and make a report at the annual meeting.  The books shall be audited annually.  Proposed change: THEY SHALL CLOSE THEIR BOOKS ON DECEMBER 31 WITH THE ANNUAL REVIEW TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER.  A REPORT WILL BE GIVEN AT THE ANNUAL MEETING CONCERNING ASSOCIATION FINANCES.
