The Iowa Honey Producers Association has once again had a very successful booth at the Iowa State Fair. There were many entries in the product competitions this year. It really makes for an impressive display. Thanks to all who submitted items for the display and competition.

Window displays at the fair are a great way to see a wide variety of bee and honey products. Some even feature equipment from years ago that many beekeepers may not have seen before.

Other displays at the fair included photography, gift baskets, and frames of honey comb.

Of course the IHPA booth would not have been complete without the wonderful honey lemonade stand. If there is one thing that can be counted on in August, it’s some very hot days.

Here pictures of Liz Macken, 2006 Iowa Honey Queen, and Teresa Jurchen, 2006 American Honey Princess are on display among a few of the observation hives at this year’s fair. Both Liz and Teresa are great ambassadors to the public. They help to educate and inform the public about what we all have know for so long, that honeybees are a wonderful and necessary part of the Iowa agricultural scene.

Once again lets thank all those who worked so hard to make this year’s booth a success. It may only be for a few weeks in August, but it is a huge benefit for our organization for the entire year.
