The articles in “The Iowa Horticulturist” magazine are timely, interesting, and educational. They are written by educational experts from Iowa State University Horticulture and Extension and also by top professionals in the horticulture industry. You will also find valuable contact information for your field of horticulture interest from the many horticulture associations listed at the front of the magazine. You may receive “The Iowa Horticulturist” for as little as $15 a year, or for $25 a year you will receive the magazine and also have your name listed on the Hall of Horticulture pages of the magazine and Iowa State Horticultural Society website. $10 of your tax deductible dollars will give great support to the ISHS, a volunteer organization devoted to supporting and expanding horticulture in Iowa. Kansas Honey Producers and Missouri State Beekeepers Joint Meeting

This is a letter Donna Brahms received from Joli Winer regarding the upcoming joint meeting of state beekeepers associations. This could be a good opportunity to meet with beekeepers and guest speakers from other states.

The Missouri State Beekeepers and The Kansas Honey Producers would like to invite your organization to join us for a 2006 Combined Spring Meeting of our associations. The meeting will be held on March 3rd & 4th, 2006 in Overland Park, KS.

The spring 2006 meeting of the Kansas Honey Producers will be a joint meeting with the Missouri State Beekeepers. We will also be inviting beekeepers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Nebraska. We have found great facilities for our meeting at the Marriott at I-435 and Metcalf in Overland Park. They have given us great meeting rooms and the price for our sleeping rooms will be $72.00.

Guest speakers will include Dr. Marla Spivak from the University of Minnesota, Tom Seeley form Cornell University, and Dr. Diana Sammataro from the USDA Bee Lab in Tucson and Nancy Ostiguy form Penn State. We will also have a representative from the National Honey Board. We are planning to have some small workshops in addition to our main sessions.

We’ll give you more details as they become available, but at least you can mark these dates on your calendar and make your members aware of the dates and information.
