Beekeeping Class in Winterset
Pat Randol will be teaching a beekeeping class
at the Winterset Library. Class will be on Tuesday nights from
6:30 to 8:00 PM beginning Jan. 17th and ending Feb. 28th.

Tropical Cheese Spread

1 8oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
3T honey
¾ t ground ginger
1 8oz. can crushed pinapple, drained
Beat cream cheese, honey and ginger in a small
mixing bowl until smooth. Stir in pineapple. Serve with graham
crackers or assorted fruits.

A Year with Honeybees Video
‘A Year with Honeybees’ is now available
on DVD or tape. This presentation is produced by the Iowa Honey
Producers and follows Dick Blake of Shanandoah, Iowa through an
entire production season. It starts with spring feeding and ends
as the barrels are being loaded on the truck. Dick shows how to
feed bees, make splits, move colonies, super, harvest and extract
honey. Running time is thirty-five minutes.
Introductory price is $20. This includes shipping
within Iowa. Outside of Iowa is slightly higher. Make checks payable
to Iowa Honey Producers.

Northeast Iowa Beekeepers
Would you like to join a beekeepers club? The
Northeast Iowa Beekeepers would like to welcome anyone interested
in beekeeping to join their group. Started in September 2004,
they meet four times a year at Fontana Park in Hazelton, IA. This
past May they held a field day and potluck with a good turn out
of 28 people attending. Liz Macken, the Northeast Iowa Honey Queen,
was recently crowned the Iowa Honey Queen during the IHPA Annual

| For sale: Package Bees—We will begin
taking orders for package bees on Jan 15th. We are planning
on two lots. One will be scheduled to arrive the first week
in April. The second will be 7 to 10 days later. On the first
load you may have your choice of Italian or Carniolan queens
and you can get either 2# or 3# packages. The second load
will only offer 2# pkgs with Carniolan queens. The first load
usually sells out in February. There is usually space available
on the second load until late March. This is all subject to
demand which is extremely variable. Pricing won’t be
