Iowa State Fair
I-235 Road Construction

Those of you coming to the State Fair need to be aware that coming into Des Moines on I-235 can be risky business. There is no problem if you are coming from the south or east. If you are coming from the north. you can still come on I-235 but there is no longer an exit at University. You have to get off at Euclid or Guthrie Ave. If you use Euclid, go east to the Eastgate shopping center. There is a big Dahls store there and a Mc Donald’s on the corner. Turn right after the McDonalds and proceed to University. You turn left on University to get to the Fairgrounds. If you get off on Guthrie, go to Hubbell Ave and turn right. Take Hubbell to University. Turn left on University and proceed to the Fairgrounds. If you are coming from the west, you would probably be well served to take the southern bypass around to University in Pleasant Hill. After you get to Pleasant Hill, go left on University. The Fairgrounds is only a few blocks away.

Request for Crop Reports

Would some of you send crop reports to ‘The Buzz”? I’m sure this would be of interest to the readers. Our crop has been super good so far. We have one yard that has put out an average around 150#. While it is not unusual to have one or two colonies in a yard make a high yield, it is very unusual for a whole yard to have an average that high. The last time I talked to Dennis Naeve, he was doing very well. Dennis usually makes the same amount of honey that I do with half the number of colonies.
